There are a number of launching locations close to Southern Ocean Lookout.

Farm Beach is 6 km away, in the warmer months this beach is very popular. A temporary concrete and timber ramp installed in spring and provides easy access to a wide and firm beach. A steep drop-off makes it ideal for launching boats.

Little Douglas is 10 km away, situated about 4 km south of Farm Beach. This sheltered inlet offers a protected beach launch providing access to waters just inside the entrance to Port Douglas.

Mount Dutton Bay East is 4 km away, a concrete ramp with floating pontoon provide easy access to the protected waters.
